Jonny Evans says a successful pre-season is the perfect preparation for the new campaign and the defender is hoping to enjoy exactly that during the team’s trip to the United States this summer.
The club confirmed earlier this week that the squad will embark on another journey around the States for Tour 2014, presented by Aon, with the Reds set to come up against some high-profile opposition following their inclusion in the International Champions Cup.
Evans says the players always relish visits to the States and whie staying injury-free, honing fitness and getting some minutes on the clock in the tour matches are always the prime aims, the defender insists the Reds always want to win.
“It’s always great to get off to a good start,” Jonny told MUTV and ManUtd.com. “Admittedly you can probably look too deep into analysing pre-season games because at the end of the day they are for your fitness. However it’s a good starting point for the manager to see where the team is going. I think it’s more of a case of getting everyone together, but it’s nice to win the games too.”
And the defender is particularly excited about heading Stateside once again.
