Fans will get their first glimpse of the squad playing in the new Chevrolet-sponsored 2014/15 kit in the opening match of Tour 2014, presented by Aon.
The new kit was unveiled on Monday ahead of the new season and the players will wear it for the first time against LA Galaxy in the Chevrolet Cup at the Rose Bowl on 23 July.
Galaxy are currently in the middle of the MLS season meaning the Reds face a tough test in the first tour game, but goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard says that will only help aid the players’ fitness.
“That’s always a challenge when we go on pre-season tour. When we played in Japan last summer it was clear that the teams we were playing against were in the middle of their season. They had more rhythm and better timing, and were better physically whereas we were only just getting started, so that’s always an issue when you go on tour,” he explained.
“People might expect United to completely dominate but they kind of forget the state we are in and the state our opponents are in, and that the important factors, for us, in the game are to get fit and start playing a bit of football again. Nevertheless, we’ll be determined to win the game.”
The match is the first of four scheduled matches on Tour 2014, presented by Aon, with a possible fifth to come if the Reds reach the International Champions Cup (ICC) final in Miami.
