Coach Tommy Martin feels United's Under-15s acquitted themselves well despite finishing fifth in Group C of the Manchester United Premier Cup.
The youngsters had to deal with testing conditions and finished the section with a 0-0 draw against Ajax Cape Town. Dinamo Zagreb ran out group victors to set up a quarter-final date with Inter Milan.
United coach Martin admitted: "We’ve had some difficult games, but I was especially pleased with the team's response after losing the first match to Boca Juniors.
"In the following game against Dinamo Zagreb, they delivered everything we asked of them and were unfortunate not to win."
Free-scoring Brazilians Santos were the only side to qualify from the group stages with a 100 per cent record.
