Manchester United’s return to Oslo this summer will inevitably bring back memories of the last time the Reds played on Norwegian soil.
It was the summer of 2002 and United treated fans to an entertaining 90 minutes against Valerenga with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer unusually wearing the number 9 shirt and, to mark his appearance in his homeland, the captain’s armband.
Solskjaer's fairytale return got even better when he converted a penalty on 26 minutes, before Valerenga defender Pa-Modou Kah equalised with a long-range blast.
Roy Keane then settled matters with just six minutes to play when he calmly took down Diego Forlan’s curling cross and fired home from close range, much to the delight of United's sizeable Scandinavian support.
