Star man: Nigerian striker Kennedy Igboananike is currently AIK’s top scorer with nine goals to his name from 18 appearances. The 24-year-old, who was signed from local rivals Djurgårdens IF Fotboll at the tail end of last term, has an eye for the spectacular – a trait that was best displayed by his overhead kick against Halmstad in April. Think of him as a slighter version of fellow countryman and former Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins.
Did you know? AIK are one of a select group of European club sides to have played at Wembley - they faced Arsenal under the old Twin Towers in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Quote/unquote: “AIK will be very fit, the Scandinavian season is ongoing at the moment and any team you play from this region will be match-fit. There will be a gap in terms of skill and I expect United to be fit as well but a little off the pace in terms of how we play in pre-season.” – Peter Schmeichel.
