Reds take Chinese lessons

Two lucky fans got the chance to meet five Manchester United stars on tour in Hong Kong last month after winning an exclusive competition.

Ian Wu and Cherrie Yeung, from China and Hong Kong respectively, were invited to the team hotel after being drawn at random from thousands of entries on and the Reds’ official Sina Weibo page.

There they met Phil Jones, Anderson, Fabio, Michael Keane and Ben Amos, and taught the quintet how to write their names in Chinese characters on a whiteboard.

The Reds players, who all did impressively well at the task, autographed their boards before posing for photographs with the excited winners.

Ian, a 23-year-old from Guangdong, said: "I’ve been a United fan for a long time so I was really excited to meet the players. Phil Jones and Fabio were both good at writing their names in Chinese – Phil took a photo of his, so he must have liked it!"
