Nani can shine

Former United midfielder Quinton Fortune believes Stockholm's Friends Arena can provide the perfect platform for Nani to parade his talents.

The Portugal international will get a first outing under David Moyes, after proving his sharpness in the friendly win at Crewe for Warren Joyce's XI and during practice matches, with the AIK Fotboll fixture allowing the winger a chance to make a positive first impression on the new boss.

Following Wilfried Zaha's positive impact on tour, there will be increased competition for wide places with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young, who have not travelled to Sweden, also in the mix and young guns Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard capable of playing on the flanks.

"I'm sure we'd like to go out there and put on a performance tonight," Fortune told "There are a number of players who stayed back from the tour or had a longer holiday and have the opportunity now the manager has seen them in training.

"We also have Rio's Testimonial and the Community Shield so we've got games coming up and it's very simple - you have got to play well to make it difficult for the manager. The boys are in good shape and can push on with another 90 minutes.

"It always tends to happen when you bring in another player in the same position that the player already there seems to raise his level so it's good that Zaha has been outstanding. He has done everything you want a new player to do now and it's down to Nani to compete with him. It's great because you want to see that competition and players pushing each other to impress the manager. So it's a great opportunity for Nani tonight.

"AIK are in the middle of the season, playing in the league for important places, so I'm not sure if they will be at full strength but it's not every day that you get to play against United and, if I was their manager, I would use that
