The Manchester United players stepped off the plane in Narita early on Monday morning, following a nine-hour flight from Sydney, and were immediately whisked off to make an appearance at a Paul Smith store in Tokyo.

There they picked up some finery from the designer who provides the club’s suits and luggage, were interviewed by local media and were joined by Shinji Kagawa, back in his homeland with the Reds for the first time.

After checking in at their Yokohama hotel, which was surrounded by excited fans, the United squad took part in more media, commercial and charitable activities with some of the club’s official partners, including Nike and UNICEF.

David Moyes and Kagawa then attended a packed press conference to preview Tuesday night’s Kagome Re:Generation Challenge against Yokohama F•Marinos, before joining the rest of the squad for an evening open training session at Nissan Stadium, where the rain failed to dampen the spirits of the watching fans.
