Norwegian strikers Joshua King (2009-2013) and Erik Nevland (1997-2000) also played senior football for the Reds but managed only two and six appearances respectively.
Jesper Olsen: Impressing alongside Johan Cruyff at Ajax, the waspish winger was snapped up by United for £350,000, making his debut against Watford at the start of the 1984/85 season. The Denmark international played in 139 games in the old Division One for the Reds.
John Sivebaek: Famously scored the first goal of Sir Alex's reign, the only time he hit the net for the Reds. Ron Atkinson signed the full-back from Vejle Boldklub in 1985 but he was sold to St Etienne a couple of years later.
Peter Schmeichel: After some wrangling with Brondby, 'the Great Dane' became United's number one in 1991 and went on to be regarded as the best goalkeeper in the club's history. He captained the Reds in his last game, the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich, and lifted the European Cup as Sir Alex's men completed the Treble.
