Cumbria-based fan Keith remembers a classic European night at OT...
United were the defending European champions, but had suffered a poor season domestically by their own high standards, and had lost the first leg of this tie 2-0 in Milan.
However I'll never forget this Thursday night match when United fought like hungry lions, or perhaps more like angry Red Devils, to defend their crown.
Bobby Charlton gave us much hope when he made it 1-0 and my ever lasting memory is of how the whole 63,000 crowd then tried to shout United home.
The noise created was above and beyond anything I have ever heard since at OT (or anywhere), just an absolute deafening crescendo of 'United, United'.
The atmosphere certainly rocked the Italians who in many people's opinions conceded a second goal to Denis the King - although the officials didn't agree with us on the Stretford End that the ball crossed the line before a hasty Milan clearance.
We went out on aggregate but it was still a fantastic night and a memorable win.
