Big date looms for Under-18s

Thursday 14 December 2023 15:33

Manchester United are on the FA Youth Cup trail again next Tuesday, when facing Derby County in the third round.

Adam Lawrence's Under-18s are eagerly anticipating the chance to play at Old Trafford and tickets are available for the game, with supporters urged to take this opportunity to cheer on our young talent. Prices are £3 for adults and £1.50 for juniors (under 16s) so it is great value.

The match kicks off at 19:00 GMT and will be shown live on MUTV for viewers and United App users in the UK and Ireland.

The Reds won the trophy in 2022, beating Nottingham Forest 3-1 in the final at the Theatre of Dreams, with goals from Rhys Bennett and current first-team star Alejandro Garnacho, who hit a brace.

Kobbie Mainoo and Dan Gore were among the starters in midfield, as the Reds triumphed in the competition for the 11th time.

Derby reached this stage with a 4-1 away win at Bolton Wanderers.

As the fourth-round draw has already taken place, the reward for the victors will be an away tie, against either Luton Town or Swindon Town.

There was a shock in the competition on Wednesday night, as Burton Albion defeated 2021 winners Aston Villa 3-1.

West Ham United are the current holders of the silverware, after beating London rivals Arsenal in the final last April.
