Martial makes 300th United appearance

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is to make his 300th appearance for the club in all competitions.

The Frenchman reaches the landmark by being named in our starting XI to face Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford in the Premier League – his first start of the 2023/24 season.

In his first 299 outings for the Reds, Martial has netted 88 goals since he made the deadline-day switch from Ligue 1 side Monaco in 2015 and sits 25th on our all-time top scorers list.

United boss Erik ten Hag confirmed that Martial is ready to play from the off, having missed minutes during pre-season due to injury, after coming off the bench in the defeat at Tottenham. He replaced Alejandro Garnacho, who is among the substitutes.

Speaking to MUTV, former Red Fraizer Campbell described Martial's inclusion in the side as “a real positive”.

He added: “He’s a fantastic player and he can score goals, he can be influential in games.”

On his debut for the club, the then 19-year-old Martial, scored against our arch-rivals Liverpool, coming off the bench to score in front of the Stretford End.

While it is the other team from Merseyside, Everton, who he has been most successful against in front of goal, having scored eight times against the Toffees.
