Dalot proud to hit United milestone

Diogo Dalot was one of Manchester United's standout performers at Wembley, as Erik ten Hag's men made it through to a second successive Emirates FA Cup final.

The full-back was an unused substitute in last season's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City but has been one of the first names on the teamsheet for some time, and is likely to be in the running for prizes at the club's annual awards dinner.

On Sunday, he provided the assist for Scott McTominay's opener and made one goal-saving clearance in the first half, as United took on Coventry City in the semi-final. In the shootout, he was entrusted with our second penalty, as he was for last year's semi-final game with Brighton & Hove Albion and, as he did on that occasion, made no mistake from 12 yards.

His celebration showed passion and he tried to rev the Reds fans up at various stages of what turned into a see-saw battle with the Sky Blues.

Diogo Dalot was heavily involved in the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry.

The latest appearance was Dalot's 150th in all competitions for the Reds, since signing from Porto in 2018. The defender has also made 100 Premier League outings and has now topped last term's output (43 games to 42).

"It's a huge honour to reach this beautiful milestone for one of the biggest clubs in the world," he said. "I'm happy to see the reward for all my hard work and sacrifice and to be an important player for the team today.

"I will continue to dedicate myself 100 per cent to football and to United, with the aim of playing many more matches and winning more titles for this club."

Dalot will hope to start against Sheffield United on Wednesday night, as the Reds return to Premier League action at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old scored a superb winner in the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane, as the Reds won 2-1 on the day Sir Bobby Charlton sadly passed away.
