United's 2023/24 third shirt: Five things we love

Tuesday 08 August 2023 10:30

Manchester United's 2023/24 third shirt has caused quite the stir, after Reds legend Roy Keane's starring role in the official launch video.

The design is unlike anything we have had before.

Despite the buzz surrounding the latest release, and the fact it blurs the lines between competitive and casual wear, the devil is, indeed, in the details.

From standout features to hidden aspects that only eagle-eyed supporters will see, take a closer look at five key details from our 2023/24 adidas third shirt...

So you're a devil, are you?

Here's another chance to watch the video, starring Roy Keane, that launched our new third kit...

THE DEVIL TAKES CENTRE STAGE

For the first time in our history, one of our shirts features only the devil on the front, rather than the Manchester United badge.

This sway from tradition lends itself to the ever-growing desire among fans to rep their football team in casual settings as well as at matches.

Contrasting the off-white base colour, the red devil dominates the left side of the chest, matching perfectly with the red adidas and Teamviewer logos.

Let's face it, it looks great!

THE ROSE REMAINS

While the red devil is the key aspect of this strip, and the green-and-white stripes were the standout features from our away kit, our 2023/24 adidas home shirt took inspiration from the red rose.

Despite not being obvious at first, this nod to our heritage also features in our latest shirt, with the same geometric rose being printed on the inside of the jersey.

WHITE STRIPES

The off-white is opposed brilliantly by the red accents - and the devil - yet the stripes do not follow this pattern.

White stripes cascade down the sleeves, with the same shade continuing down the legs of the off-white shorts too.

In doing this, the red elements on the kit pop out even more.

A SIX-YEAR WAIT

United's new shirt is the first white third jersey we have had since the 2017/18 season.

Of course, few can forget the 'zebra' kit of 2020/21, but that shirt featured a lot of black too. We've also had white away kits, such as last season's version.

But the latest third shirt is unlike anything we have seen the Reds wear before.

THE BADGE ON THE BACK

'But how can you have a kit without the Manchester United badge on it?' you may ask.

Well, rest assured, it does feature - in a subtle position.

On the back of the jersey, on the gap in the collar, our crest sits proudly.

A shirt for any occasion - United's 2023/24 third kit is available to buy now!
