Turner named Women's Player of the Month
Millie Turner has been named Manchester United Women's Player of the Month for March after topping our fan poll.
The Reds defender narrowly edged this month's extremely competitive vote, with fellow nominees Lucia Garcia and Lisa Naalsund missing out by just one and two per cent respectively.
Marc Skinner's side turned out five times across two competitions, facing defeat just once in that time, and Turner appeared in all but 30 minutes of our March action.
She has been a rock in the defensive unit in recent weeks, but not only has our no.21 done her job in keeping the goals out, she's also managed to notch a couple at the other end too.
Along with clean sheets against Brighton in the FA Cup and Bristol City in the Women's Super League, she has also contributed goals in crucial moments in an all-round performance befitting of this award.
Her first of the month came in the crucial cup clash against the Seagulls, arriving late at the back post to head home an inswinging Katie Zelem cross to open the scoring in the eighth minute. The goal set the tone of the evening and United went on to advance to the semi-finals with a 4-0 win.
She followed that up with a goal that was just as vital in the Reds' WSL bout with Everton on the final day of the month. United captain Zelem was once again the provider, this time floating the ball deep into the penalty area from a corner which Turner rose above the sea of blue shirts to meet. The goal got Skinner's side back into the game at 1-1 and gave us the platform go on and complete a 4-1 comeback win.
The difference she has made from the front to the back of the pitch throughout March makes it easy to see how she has clinched this month's title, the first defender to do so during this campaign.
The award tops off a positive few weeks for the 27-year-old, as her productive club displays led to her retaining England international status for this April's clashes with Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.
