Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he is set to keep the youngsters who impressed on Tour 2019 as part of his first-team squad.

There would be no shortage of loan takers for the exciting prospects but the boss wants to keep the homegrown talents on board as he prepares for the campaign at home and abroad.

In an exclusive interview with MUTV, Solskjaer was asked what the plans are for Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong and whether they would remain or depart on a temporary basis before 2 September, when the window closes for overseas clubs.

Mason Greenwood is pushing for more first-team recognition.

"No," he replied, when asked by Stewart Gardner if loan moves could be in the pipeline. "To be honest, I can see them staying here and making a proper impact.

"They have already, on pre-season, and they did so in February, March and April. They did well in training but we never gave them enough game time. Pre-season has shown they have grown over the last six months and they are getting used to men's football.

"They will get opportunities."

Mason Greenwood, meanwhile, has also been assured of plenty of senior action after making his first start in the final fixture of last season against Cardiff City.

The 17-year-old is competing for a place in attack, after Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan on Thursday.

"It's one of the big decisions you have to make when you've got such a talented player coming through," admitted the boss. "Are we going to get players in who are going to block his path or trust him and give him an opportunity.

"He is one we believe is going to be a big part of this squad going forwards and we'll see a lot of him."

Tahith Chong will be hoping to continue impressing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

James Garner and Axel Tuanzebe are other youngsters in the squad, which was confirmed when the shirt numbers were released on Friday afternoon.

They are also likely to challenge for a spot in the side as the Reds embark on another Premier League campaign, starting with Sunday's opener against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
