Ole reveals team news for Basaksehir visit

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has plenty of options available for Tuesday night's key Champions League clash with Istanbul Basaksehir at Old Trafford.

The Reds are keen to beat the Turkish visitors, after the 2-1 loss in Istanbul, in order to remain top of Group H ahead of tough fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig, who both did well in last season's competition.

"We hope that the lads will recover quickly," the manager told MUTV's Stewart Gardner. "Luke [Shaw] is out, Phil Jones [is] obviously out, still.

“Jesse is still self-isolating because he’s been in contact with a COVID positive. He’ll be back soon. Apart from that we have one or two little niggles that we’ll have to make a decision on towards the end."

Paul Pogba will be assessed on Tuesday morning, ahead of the tie.

Paul Pogba missed the weekend win over West Brom in the Premier League and a decision will be taken on his fitness in the build-up to the game.

"I hope Paul is going to be available," Ole said. "He trained this morning. It's still uncomfortable and [there's] some pain, so we’ll make a decision on that in the morning [on Tuesday]."

During his press conference, Solskjaer explained he hoped left-back Shaw will return after four weeks on the sidelines, rather than six, but no risks will be taken with the defender's hamstring injury.

Shaw has been out since the win over Everton before the international break.

"I hope nearer to four weeks, but with hamstrings you can’t risk anything and he’s still not training with us," said the boss. "Hopefully, near four but more likely close to six."

Jesse Lingard and Luke Shaw are both ruled out of the Old Trafford fixture.

There was no confirmation Dean Henderson would play in goal, after starting in Turkey, with David De Gea continuing his good form in keeping a clean sheet against West Brom.

"I’ve been very happy with the competition that Dean has provided for David," said Ole. "Dean hasn't put a foot wrong. He’s developing and maturing but I’m not going to give you the team now or tell you who is playing."

For the visitors, Nacer Chadli could be available after recovering from injury, with former Reds defender Rafael likely to be in the side again.
