Forson nominated for PL2 award

Omari Forson has been nominated for September's Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

The 19-year-old scored in each our three league fixtures during the month, as well as the Papa Johns Trophy defeat at Bolton Wanderers.

Forson, who was involved with Erik ten Hag's squad during Tour 2023 and has still trained with the first team at Carrington, is one of eight players from across the league on the shortlist for the award. which he was also in the running for back in February.

Omari slotted his first goal of the month at Sunderland, in a game we went on to draw 5-5.

The forward cut back twice, first on to his right foot and then on to his left, before placing his shot expertly into the far corner.

He also made it on to the scoresheet in the 4-2 home defeat to Arsenal.

A rasping half-volley at Leyland then helped us defeat Blackburn Rovers 5-2 on Saturday.

Forson joins Luca Barrington, Mark O'Mahony (both Brighton & Hove Albion), Alfie Dorrington (Tottenham), Harry Gardiner (Sunderland), Callum Kavanagh (Middlesbrough), Callum Marshall (West Ham United) and Tommi O'Reilly (Aston Villa) on the shortlist.

Nominees were selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel after PL2 club coaches nominated the best performance by an opponent in each of their divisional matches in the month.

The panel will decide the winner, who is due to be announced at 10:00 BST on Friday 13 October.
