Coronavirus: Reds deliver food to local community

Manchester United Foundation and football club staff have kicked off another week in the coronavirus crisis by delivering food and drink to local groups and charities dealing with the impacts of the pandemic.

The workforce packaged up 30,000 items and took them to a number of places in Greater Manchester including Stretford Food Bank and Salford Royal Hospital.

Staff cleared the stadium’s bars, kiosks and kitchens of all perishable goods stocked for use up until the summer and loaded them into a fleet of Foundation vehicles with volunteer drivers on hand to make the deliveries.
This follows other initiatives, including a donation of £50,000 to the Trussell Trust to support 19 food banks across Greater Manchester as part of a joint fan-led initiative with Manchester City, along with 350 hot meals that were cooked and distributed to local charities.

Manchester United donates food after every home game and looks forward to restarting this service when football resumes.
