Alexis Sanchez models the new 2019/20 Manchester United home kit

Positive injury update on Alexis Sanchez

Wednesday 10 July 2019 08:24

Alexis Sanchez is expected to be available for the back end of Manchester United's pre-season campaign, despite sustaining an injury while representing Chile.

The South American forward appeared to pick up a hamstring injury during his country's third/fourth-place play-off against Argentina in the Copa America in Brazil.

However, Reds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping this will not extend the three-week break the 30-year-old was being afforded due to his international commitments.

Alexis Sanchez performed well in the Copa America before picking up an injury.
"I don't think Alexis's injury was too bad," explained the manager at a press conference in Australia, ahead of the first match of Tour 2019 against Perth Glory.

"When he's due back is three weeks after his last game, so that will be just after we come back from tour. I would expect him to be fit enough to play straightaway and train straightaway."

United have a friendly against Kristiansund in Oslo on Tuesday 30 July and a clash in Cardiff with AC Milan on Saturday 3 August, before our Premier League campaign starts with the home match against Chelsea on 11 August.

Providing Alexis is fit enough to resume training as originally planned, he could feature in those final two pre-season fixtures.

All of United's six pre-season games - against Perth Glory, Leeds United, Inter Milan, Spurs, Kristiansund and AC Milan - will be shown live on MUTV.
