Andreas: I want to repay the club’s faith in me
Andreas Pereira has said he wants to repay the faith Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have shown in him by offering the midfielder a new contract.
The 23-year-old penned an extension to his previous deal last week, signing on until June 2023 with the option to extend for a further year.
Having joined United as a youth player, Andreas’s journey to the first-team has not always been straightforward: he spent two years on loan in La Liga, before enjoying his first extended spell of senior football with the Reds last season.

In 2018/19, Andreas experienced an encouraging campaign, registering 22 appearances in all competitions and netting the club’s goal of the season in the 3-2 win against Southampton in March.
He is hoping to push on again during the upcoming term and, after penning his new contract, is keen to secure a permanent place in Ole’s starting XI.
"I am very happy. That is all that I wanted,” he said during United’s trip to Perth, as part of Tour 2019.
“I am very happy to be at United. I feel like United is my home, Manchester is my home, so I am very glad that I can stay here, do my work and, hopefully, I can nail down my spot, show them what I can do and help the team to achieve our goals.
He is hoping to push on again during the upcoming term and, after penning his new contract, is keen to secure a permanent place in Ole’s starting XI.

While our Premier League campaign does not kick-off for another month, Andreas knows that his performances in pre-season – which begins against Perth Glory on Saturday – could go a long way to helping him obtain a place in the team.
Asked whether this summer’s games could help him stake a claim for a starting berth in midfield, Andreas said: “Yes, if I do well in pre-season.”
“Of course, the manager knows me from last season as well, and it helps. So I will do my best in the six games and even in the season I will try my best to get better in each game.”

"They are settling in really quickly, [and] we are helping them,” said Andreas. “They have been in England already and that makes it a lot easier of course. They are doing well, [and] hopefully they can pick it up very quickly and show us what they have got.”
The two new recruits, and the plethora of youngsters in the Tour 2019 squad, make for a youthful feel about the camp in Perth. In fact, 12 of the 24 players who are currently Down Under are aged 24 or younger, and Andreas says it has resulted in a great atmosphere among the group.

“We also have some experienced players like Ashley Young, Nemanja, Paul as well, so it is very important we have all of the boys so they can show us, lead by example and we can follow them.”
All of United's six pre-season games – against Perth Glory, Leeds United, Inter Milan, Spurs, Kristiansund and AC Milan – will be shown live on MUTV.
