Early team news for United v Everton

The Uruguayan hurt his ankle when on the receiving end of a late tackle by Southampton's Kayne Ramsay, that initially led to a penalty being awarded by referee Mike Dean during the first half of the Reds' 9-0 victory on Tuesday night.

However, after much deliberation, the VAR review decided the foul came inches outside of the penalty area so a free-kick was awarded instead.

After the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "Edinson got a bad tackle on his ankle so he had to come off. He probably would have loved to be out there, scoring goals, but there was no point in taking any risks. Hopefully, it won't swell up too much." 

Anthony Martial replaced the South American striker and looked lively in bagging a superb double, while also being fouled by Jan Bednarek to allow Bruno Fernandes to score from the penalty spot.

Phil Jones is working his way back to fitness but the Reds are hopefully continuing to manage the workload really well. Luke Shaw was rested at half-time against his former club on Tuesday night, while Daniel James came off the bench to net the ninth and provide a reminder of what he can offer on the wing.

The Wales international actually has three goals from his last 245 minutes of football as he's regained his scoring touch.
