Ten Hag's team news update

Erik ten Hag has ruled three players out of Manchester United's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg with Nottingham Forest.

The manager was asked for the latest team news at his press conference, ahead of the clash at The City Ground, and Wednesday's 20:00 GMT kick-off has come too soon for Diogo Dalot, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial.

Sancho has returned to training but is not yet available as he continues to build his fitness. Dalot was injured against Charlton Athletic in the previous round of this competition, while Martial has been absent since coming off at half-time during the memorable derby win over Manchester City.

"The players who were not available for the Arsenal game - Dalot, Martial, Sancho," confirmed the boss. "Are also not available for tomorrow."

Axel Tuanzebe has also joined the group in training this week after his injury lay-off but Donny van de Beek is out for the rest of the season, following a knee operation.

Midfield lynchpin Casemiro is available again after serving a one-match ban in the Premier League.

FOREST'S TEAM NEWS UPDATE

Dean Henderson, Omar Richards, Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi are among the absentees for the home side but Ryan Yates could be available.

"He was just feeling a bit unwell during the game [at Bournemouth]," said boss Steve Cooper. "Whether there's a bit of a virus going around or what not, we'll get to the bottom of it. If he's available for Wednesday, I don't know yet. We'll see but everyone else was fine from the weekend and we're as we were."

Henderson would not have been allowed to play as he is on loan from United but the keeper has also picked up an injury.

"We thought Dean's injury might be a lot longer than it's going to be," added Cooper at his press conference. "He couldn't have played in these semis anyway. Wayne Hennessey played at the weekend and we'll see whether we keep with that or make a change [in terms of signing another keeper]."
