Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford.

Wan-Bissaka one of four Reds in the England squad

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been handed a first senior international call-up by England boss Gareth Southgate, as one of four Manchester United players in the latest Three Lions squad.

The 21-year-old defender has made a good start to life at Old Trafford since his summer move from Crystal Palace, starting all three of the club's Premier League matches so far and winning the Man of the Match away against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wan-Bissaka is joined in the England squad by Harry Maguire, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford, for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

Although making one appearance for DR Congo at Under-20 level in 2015, the right-back has been representing England Under-21s and adds to the options available in the position for Southgate.

England face Bulgaria at Wembley on Saturday 7 September (17:00 BST kick-off) before a first meeting with Kosovo on the following Tuesday (19:45 BST start).

Harry Maguire is a key figure for club and country.

Maguire has been a mainstay of the England defence and, of course, enjoyed a wonderful World Cup with his country in 2018, when the team were knocked out in the semi-finals by Croatia.

Lingard and Rashford were also part of that side, with the latter now looking to add to his record of seven goals from 32 caps.

"We tracked him very closely last year," said Southgate of Wan-Bissaka. "We thought he had an outstanding season but we wanted him to stay with the Under-21s. He's adapted really well to a high-profile move, which brings an intensity and pressure."

Wan-Bissaka and Maguire can increase United's total number of England internationals over the years, which currently stands at 66.

If both manage to play in the upcoming break, it will draw the club level with Everton in fifth place on the overall list.

However, the Reds comfortably lead the way in terms of total appearances for the Three Lions, with the figure currently standing at 1,303 games. Only Liverpool (1,154) have also broken into four figures.

Marcus Rashford will be a strong contender to start for England at Wembley.
