Manchester United midfielder Hannibal has his targets fixed on securing a Championship play-off spot with Birmingham City in 2023.

The Tunisia international represented his country at the World Cup but was disappointed not to get more game-time in Qatar.

He has now returned to the Championship club - where he is spending the season on loan - and manager John Eustace selected him for the 0-0 draw at Blackpool last weekend, when he played 86 minutes.

Afterwards, he spoke to the Birmingham Mail, and reiterated his commitment to the cause at St Andrew's.

Despite defeat for Sunderland, the United loanee was on the scoresheet again.

“I didn’t play a lot in the World Cup so I was happy to come back here and get some minutes and show what I can do,” Hannibal said.

“For the rest of the season, I want to go to the top six for the play-offs and I think that’s the objective of all the clubs and all the fans.

"We think about this but we need to think, as well, about the small details and get better as a team.

"I came here for the season. We speak after every game [with Manchester United]– and, for the moment, nothing [about going back]. I am enjoying playing for this club, I enjoy the fans, now we just need to work on the small details to be a better team."

Hannibal appreciates the backing of the Birmingham fans, as he prepares for Friday night's home clash with Reading, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

"It's good when the supporters are with us," he added. "It helps us when they are singing a lot.

"We are going to try to win for them and try our best to go to the top six for them."
