Loan midfielders making waves

Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year Garner has quickly forced his way into the Watford line-up and started the much-hyped derby with rivals Luton Town at the weekend.

The 19-year-old forced a couple of saves out of Hatters keeper Simon Sluga and produced a dominant performance in the engine room, as the Hornets won 1-0.

Coach Vladimir Ivic said: “He is one of the most talented players in England.

“He is a quality player with the ball, he knows how to move the ball fast and he thinks fast, which is very important."

Local newspaper The Watford Observer commented on his performance: "The Manchester United loan player has been at the club for little more than a week but already looks a great signing. Very composed in the centre of the park."

Garner played alongside three former Reds in the Watford XI on Saturday - Ben Foster, Craig Cathcart and Tom Cleverley.

Next up for the Championship side, who lie fifth in the table, is a trip to early leaders Reading on Saturday, where the midfielder will catch up with our former Under-23s assistant coach Quinton Fortune.  

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer was impressed by Levitt's maiden league appearance, despite a 2-0 defeat at Lincoln City.

There was an air of controversy over the Addicks' loss in the League One and the Wales international performed well.

“I’ll take a lot of positives," said Bowyer. "I thought Dylan, in his first proper league game, there was a lot to be happy in his performance – his range of passing and awareness. 

"We’ll get stronger and stronger as it goes on but you can’t be coming away from here with nothing after that performance."
