Mourinho: We want to keep Blind and Darmian

Jose Mourinho has stressed Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind remain part of his Manchester United plans for next season, contrary to press speculation this week.

The defensive duo featured in the 2-0 win at Bournemouth recently and Italy international Darmian also came off the bench in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final triumph over Tottenham.

The Manchester United boss says both players are in his thoughts with the 2018/19 campaign in mind.

"They are part of my plans," Jose stated at his pre-Brighton press conference.

"No [I'm not going to let them go]. I think when a player wants to go, if that's the case and the right offers arrive in the club, we study that, because we always try to have the players happy.

"So if happiness means for them to leave, let's see what happens, but they are in my plans. I don't want to sell [them], I want to keep [them]."
The future of Marouane Fellaini was a talking point during the manager's press conference

Jose is also keen to retain Marouane Fellaini by signing the matchwinner against Arsenal to a new contract.

"I am still positive," declared the United manager. "Yeah, I'm still positive. He's important. He's a player that I like, but again if, and especially so for him, because he has a different position in relation to other players with his contract, because other players with a contract, we can control their destiny in a different way.

"In Marouane's case, the destiny is in his hands and he will decide what makes him happy. He knows that I want him to stay and he knows that the club wants him to stay. He has an offer from us and it's up to him to say 'yes' or 'no'.

"I am still positive, because I feel that he likes to be here. I feel that he likes the feeling of the manager trusting him and I think there is a good chance for him to stay. But if he leaves, so be it and be happy."
