eFootball Pro: United v Arsenal

Wednesday 29 January 2020 14:48

For Manchester United’s second match of the eFootball.Pro tournament, we had to play against an old rival in Arsenal.

At the start of this matchday, Arsenal were in last place whereas we were in third. So we were feeling confident and thought it was possible to get six points.

As soon as the referee whistled the blow we started off ferociously, pressing our opponent and creating two chances which we should have scored. Arsenal looked very nervous, that was until they scored from a quick counter with Aubameyang in the 22nd minute.

After their goal, Arsenal got better as the match went on. They continued playing on the counter attack while we kept more of the possession.

Throughout the first game we didn't create too many big chances because we kept attacking through the middle, even though Arsenal kept it very tight at the back.

We should have changed formation and we might have done better. Despite several good chances for our opponents to bag a second, the scoreline remained 1-0.

The second match was very similar to the first. We were the ones attacking and they were playing on the counter. But with a victory already in the bag, Arsenal felt a bit more confident. We knew we had to win this game otherwise it would be a very bad week for us. In the first half it finished 0-0 in an evenly-fought match.

A very tense game was finally broke open in the 51st minute. A goal kick from De Gea ended at the feet of Greenwood after a few players missed the header.

With a good run into the box, the ball was given to Rashford, controlled by Mikolaj, who netted the ball with a first time shot. Game on!

We felt stronger after the goal but it was Arsenal who did the pressing after we broke the deadlock. Fortunately we prevailed and won the game by a single-goal margin.

With surprising results all over the competition we are in fourth place on goal difference. Along with three other teams, United have got seven points, while the top team has 10 points.

MATCHDAY THREE PREVIEW

Our next match sees us face the team currently at the bottom of the table, Celtic FC, who have accumulated only one point out of four games. So I expect them to be very motivated to get points and also because there have two Dutch guys on their team. Wishal and I know them very well.

We expect them to play a 4-5-1 or 5-4-1 formation with slow build up from the back. They aspire to play total football. That's where our chances lie. Because they want to play careful build up, we have to force them to make mistakes and punish them. But at the same it's also a threat because if we don't pressure well we will be outplayed.
