#MUFCMundial: Iran

Friday 06 July 2018 10:58

Manchester United fan Mohammadjavad Nabizadeh is representing Iran in our #MUFCMundial series during the World Cup in Russia, where the quarter-finals begin today (Friday).

The Asian nation, managed by former United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz, were knocked out in the group stage, so who is Mohammadjavad backing to go all the way now?

Which country are you representing and why?
I am Iranian. I initially supported Iran, but I’m now supporting England after Iran failed to get out of their World Cup group.

Mohammadjavad Nabizadeh is backing England, now his native Iran have been knocked out.

How sad were you when your country were knocked out and who are you backing to win now?
In Iran, we were all expecting to climb to the next step by getting points from Spain and Portugal, but this did not happen. I really want England to win the World Cup, and I hope this happens.

How would you sum up your feelings about the World Cup using emojis only?
🇮🇷😇😍🏴

Which United star do you think will shine brightest during the World Cup?
I’m interested in Marcus Rashford and hope he plays well but I think Romelu Lukaku.

Have you ever been to Old Trafford?
For me, it's a dream to be at Old Trafford one day, but I’m not rich enough to be able to go there. However, I hope I can see Old Trafford one day.

Which player from your national team would you love to see in a United shirt?
I like to see Alireza Jahanbakhsh at United. He is a high-level player and was the top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie last season.

Iran bowed out after finishing third in Group B behind Spain and Portugal.
