Manchester United Women can confirm the appointment of new assistant coach Martin Ho following the decision of Glen Harris to retire at the end of the 2019/20 season.

Martin joins United’s first-team staff having already worked with the club’s Under-21 WSL Academy team last season alongside head coach Charlotte Healy. Martin has previously been involved at Everton within the boys' Academy set-up and also became assistant manager of the women’s senior side.

He moved on to be head coach of Liverpool Women’s Under-21 team and was also the technical director of their girls’ Regional Talent Club, before joining United last season.

Martin joins the first-team set-up, having already worked with the club’s Under-21 WSL Academy team last season.

Glen Harris joined United in late 2018 and was instrumental in the team’s promotion to the WSL alongside head coach Casey Stoney.

Everyone at the club wishes Glen well during his retirement.

Casey Stoney said:

“I’m delighted to have Martin as my assistant going into the new season; he has a wealth of experience and I have seen first-hand the qualities that he possesses as a coach. He is a great leader and understands the values and culture of this club which is so important. I’m looking forward to getting back to training for pre-season and putting our plans into action.

“I cannot express enough gratitude to Glen for his efforts, he came in 18 months ago and seamlessly slotted into the club at a time when we were still a new squad finding our way. He played a big part along with the rest of my staff team in helping us achieve promotion to the WSL and I will be forever grateful for the way he worked so positively with everyone. On behalf of the staff and players I want to thank him and wish him all the best in his retirement.”

Glen Harris, seen here working with Jess Sigsworth, retired at the end of the 2019/20 season.

Martin Ho said:

“It’s an honour to join the first-team staff at United, I have huge respect for Casey and what she has done as both a player and head coach; I want to thank her for the opportunity she has given me. I’m excited to be working alongside her and the squad ahead of what will be another competitive season in the WSL.

“I also want to thank Charlotte Healy, it was a pleasure to work with her last season and she is doing some brilliant work with our Under-21 Academy. Nurturing and developing young talent is what Manchester United is all about and alongside Casey, I will to continue to support the Under-21 set up to ensure we bridge the gap to the first-team.”
