United discover Europa League fate

Friday 19 March 2021 12:15

Manchester United's Europa League quarter-final opponents have been confirmed, after Friday's draw in Switzerland.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Reds saw off AC Milan 2-1 on aggregate in the last round, and our reward for getting past the Italians is a tie with Granada in the last eight.

It will be our first-ever meeting with the Spanish outfit, who are currently embarking on their maiden European campaign and have already played 13 games in this season's competition, knocking out Napoli and Molde in the rounds of 32 and 16 respectively.

The Nazaries, as they are known, currently sit eighth in La Liga and boast a couple of familiar faces in their squad, including on-loan Chelsea winger Kenedy, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado and Domingos Quina, who went up against United with Watford in the Premier League last season.

The first leg will take place at Nuevo Los Carmenes Stadium on Thursday 8 April, with the return fixture scheduled at Old Trafford for the following Thursday.

Our potential path to the tournament’s final in Gdansk has also been made clearer and if we advance past Granada, United will be paired with either Ajax or Roma in the last four.

The semi-finals are to be held over consecutive weeks and, if we get through, United will be at home on Thursday 29 April, and away on Thursday 6 May.

Stadion Miejski is the host stadium for the final on Wednesday 26 May, which will be the 22-year anniversary of United clinching the Treble in Barcelona.
