United Megastore welcomes fans back!

It’s finally happened! We’ve taken the next step towards the new normal and it’s officially time to break out the biodegradable confetti and raise a glass* in celebration. Non-essential shops are open in England, as restrictions continue to ease... yay!

*We’ll accept a brew if that’s how you roll.

So now we’re one step closer to normality, what’s on your to-do list for this week? A long overdue barnet trim? Maybe lifting some weights at the gym that aren’t made of random household items for the first time in ages (step away from the canned goods and sack of spuds)? All good ideas. How about a visit to an actual shop that isn’t a supermarket? Push the boat out, eh. You only live once.

This week we were super excited to open the doors to the Megastore at Old Trafford. If you haven’t been before, it’s basically 17,000 square feet of Manchester United heaven, with everything you could ever possibly want under one roof. The Megastore gets its fair share of exclusive product lines and fancy product launches through the year, so it’s always worth a trip.

While online shopping has been huge over the last year, sometimes you just can’t beat the experience of browsing the shops, seeing things in person and holding items in your actual hands before you buy. Take the new mint range for example. It’s a beaut, for sure, but it’s even better in real life, and the t-shirt is available exclusively in the Megastore.

What else is there to look forward to? Well, obviously the big one we’re all awaiting with bated breath is the return of supporters at games. Can you imagine sitting in the Stretford End in the latest gear to see United take on Liverpool or Manchester City on a sunny Saturday among thousands of fellow fans? It’s the stuff that dreams are made of, except fantasy is very much on the verge of coming reality.

ICYMI, last week we signed an open letter from the Premier League to the leaders of the UK government to push for the safe return of fans.

Another step out of lockdown is taking place next month, and it’s one we’ve been waiting for eagerly. As well as the opening of the Megastore this week, we’ll be welcoming fans back behind the scenes at Old Trafford on 17 May to the Museum & Stadium Tour and Red Cafe.

The Stadium Tour will take fans to places where the public haven’t been in over a year, and give supporters a taste of what’s to come when live football returns to Old Trafford. You can book your visit at manutd.com/bookmuseum and get that in the diary because life feels better with something to look forward to!

So how about all that for silver linings and lights at the end of tunnels etc? Don’t worry, if you can't come to Old Trafford in person, you can bring the Theatre of Dreams into your home via the shop online at United Direct.

Did you catch our Instagram takeover on @manchesterunited on Monday? We threw the virtual doors open before the actual ones to show you what to expect. If you missed it, don’t worry, here are some of the highlights you can look forward to if you come down…
