United name team for Wolves encounter

Tuesday 29 December 2020 19:00

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made six changes to his line-up for the visit of Wolves, in the Reds' final game of 2020.

United are aiming to finish a difficult year for everybody on a high by moving into second place in the Premier League table with three points.

However, the visitors are unbeaten in four league meetings with the Reds since returning to the top-flight, even if Ole's men did win an Emirates FA Cup tie, following a replay, at the start of 2020.

MUTV's coverage of Wolves's visit to Old Trafford begins at 18:55 GMT. Don't miss it...

The boss has shuffled his pack for our latest festive fixture, hot on the heels of the Boxing Day draw with Leicester City and ahead of Friday's clash with in-form Aston Villa.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka returns from injury, with a fresh starter on the other side of the defence in Alex Telles. There is no Victor Lindelof, due to his back problem, while Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani, who came on at Leicester, start this time around.

Nemanja Matic and Mason Greenwood are also recalled and Juan Mata is back on the bench.

"Victor couldn't make this game," Ole told MUTV. "Some [players] rest because of the fixture schedule but some of these players did really well against Everton [in the Carabao Cup quarter-final before Christmas] so it's a team that played a week go and played well together."

In a separate interview with Amazon Prime, the boss added: "We just focus on this game and not where we are at in the league. We know we are playing against a very dangerous side, we've met them so many times since I've been here. So we are just focusing on this performance and pick a team which we think can cause them problems.

"Edinson has proved what he can do over the  years and for us as well. We want to get crosses in for him and create chances for him because we know he is one of the cleverest with his movement in the box and a physical presence as well."
