United confirm four squad number changes

Manchester United can confirm some shirt number changes for the 2021/22 season, ahead of our Premier League opener with Leeds United.

Amad has been allocated the no.16 jersey, after previously wearing no.19 in the wake of his move from Atalanta at the start of the year.

The Ivory Coast international has been away representing his country at the Olympics, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he should be available again soon.

In addition to Amad's change, we can confirm Tom Heaton has been handed the no.22 jersey for the campaign.

The experienced keeper rejoined his boyhood club in the summer and takes over the number previously held by fellow stopper Sergio Romero.

Some of the younger members of the group will also continue with the numbers they wore in the pre-season friendlies.

Anthony Elanga, who scored against QPR and Brentford, is no.36 (previously 56), while fellow forward Shola Shoretire gets no.47 after being no.74 last term.

The changes come into effect in time for our opening fixture this weekend, when we will be wearing our stunning new home kit.
