Rangnick gives squad update before Everton trip
Ralf Rangnick has given an update on his Manchester United squad, ahead of Saturday's lunchtime kick-off with Everton at Goodison Park.
It's been a full week since United were last in action, during the 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Old Trafford last Saturday.
Cristiano Ronaldo missed that clash with the Foxes due to illness, while Luke Shaw was forced off at half-time after picking up a knock.
Jesse Lingard remained an unused substitute as he wasn't feeling well prior to the game.
Ronaldo is fit to face the Toffees having trained at Carrington all week, but Shaw will miss out - the left-back has been experiencing issues relating to the broken leg he suffered against PSV Eindhoven back in 2015.
Scott McTominay has been added to United's absentee list due to a foot problem, while Raphael Varane is also ruled out through injury.
Edinson Cavani remains on the sidelines, following the injury he picked up with Uruguay during the international break.
“Cristiano is back again. Luke is still injured,” Rangnick told reporters. “We had to take him off at half-time and he's having problems with his leg where had his operation back in 2015.
“Yeah, the doctor told me that they decided to remove that metal thing in his leg, there are two bolts that need to be removed and this will happen tomorrow and that means he will be out for the next two or three weeks.
“Cavani is still injured. Rapha Varane is still injured, he will be missing for the game tomorrow and the same is true with Scott McTominay, I'm afraid.
“He's having problems with the sole of his foot. So those four players will be missing.”

Donny van de Beek, who has played six games for the Toffees since joining on loan in January, is ineligible, although he recently picked up an injury which ruled him out of the defeats to West Ham and Burnley.
It appears Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes are unlikely to be fit, according to comments made by Frank Lampard after Wednesday's loss to the Clarets at Turf Moor.
Nathan Patterson, Tom Davies and Andros Townsend have also been sidelined, but Michael Keane and Allan are ready to return from suspension, with the latter having missed the last three games since being shown a red card during the 1-0 win over Newcastle in March.
