Ole reveals team news for Wolves encounter

Friday 27 August 2021 13:33

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided his team news bulletin in advance of Sunday's Premier League trip to Wolves.

The Reds are determined to head into the first international break of the season on a high after picking up four points from our opening two games against Leeds United and Southampton.

Matches against Wolves are traditionally very tight affairs - there hasn't been more than a single goal difference in the last nine clashes between the clubs - and new Molineux boss Bruno Lage will be striving to respond to consecutive 1-0 league defeats to Leicester City and Tottenham.

There has been a lot of talk over whether Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho will be introduced into the starting line-up.

Varane was an unused substitute at St Mary's last weekend and has yet to appear for his new club, while Sancho has come off the bench in both of our opening fixtures.

Ole suggested our new centre-back has been impressive in training but is playing his cards close to his chest over whether the new boys will feature.

Scott McTominay is out after undergoing groin surgery, with Dean Henderson, Alex Telles and Marcus Rashford also absent.

"We’re still missing Scott, who had surgery this week," said the manager. "Marcus, Alex, Dean Henderson, they’re not ready. But, apart from that, we have a fit squad ready to fight for points.

"Scott has had surgery and he couldn’t carry on. We tried to manage it and get him through without surgery but we couldn’t and, in the end, it was too sore for him. By the end of the Southampton game, when he came in, that was the decision."

WOLVES TEAM NEWS

Encouragingly for everybody concerned, Raul Jimenez is back from his serious head injury and has been leading the attack for the Black Country side.

Jonny Otto and Pedro Neto are sidelined but there is a chance centre-back Willy Boly could be fit to return from a hamstring injury.

Several players promoted their claims during the 4-0 away win at Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, including Daniel Podence. Recent recruit Francisco Trincao is also an option to start.
