Confirmed: United's squad for training camp

Monday 19 July 2021 10:30

Manchester United have a 27-strong squad at this week's training camp in Surrey, in advance of Saturday's next pre-season friendly against Queens Park Rangers.

The Reds started the build-up to the 2021/22 campaign with a 2-1 victory at Derby County on Sunday, courtesy of goals from Tahith Chong and Facundo Pellistri.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made nine changes at half-time and gave his squad a proper run-out, with minutes in the bank the name of the game at this stage.

There are two additions to the group due on Monday, with Daniel James and Scott McTominay linking up for the first time since their Euro 2020 exploits.

Dan helped Wales qualify for the knock-out stages with a series of high-energy performances, while Scott was particularly impressive in an unfamiliar defensive role for Scotland in the draw with eventual finalists England at Wembley, although a defeat to Croatia ended the nation's hopes of progressing.

With a number of players still unavailable, there will be more opportunities for Academy prospects to catch the coaching staff's eyes.

Nathan Bishop, one of four keepers in the group, has already agreed to join Mansfield Town on loan, while Chong is heading to Birmingham City for the season.

Joe Hugill made his first senior appearance in the win at Pride Park but there is plenty of experience around to guide the younger heads, including the likes of Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata.
