Marcus Rashford celebrates after scoring against Crystal Palace

Rashford reacts to Palace win for the Reds

Marcus Rashford savoured a satisfying win against Crystal Palace as Manchester United responded perfectly to last Monday’s setback against Southampton.

The Reds kept the heat on in the tense climax to the top-four battle with Chelsea and Leicester City by securing a tough 2-0 victory at Selhurst Park.

United’s 44-goal combo of Rashford and Anthony Martial did the damage and the Mancunian says the final 180 minutes of Premier League action this season, against West Ham and Champions League place rivals Leicester, are going to be massive.

“Every game now for us is a big game,” Marcus told BT Sport after the match.

“Before the Southampton game we were scoring goals for fun. But Southampton was a bit more difficult and today was the same.

“With this type of victory you get a lot out of it as a team because we have had to work doubly hard to get a result.”

Rashford bamboozles the Palace defence to put United 1-0 up.

Rashford rounded off a fine United move in the first half's added-on time to open the scoring, when he cheekily sent Palace’s goalkeeper and two defenders one way with a dummy before finishing.

“I was just trying to be a bit clever inside the box and try and find a way to get a shot off,” he explained.

“But it is the pattern of play that we did before that which is something we have been improving on and it is the reason why we have scored so many goals in the last few games.”

Rashford's French strike partner Martial sealed the win for United with his 78th-minute strike, also his 22nd goal of the campaign.

“Anthony has done a lot of work today and when we have the ball, he is always making himself an option and he is always available to receive the ball,” said Rashford.

“After doing all that work, that is what he deserves - to get a goal. For the team, it is always good when your strikers are scoring goals.

“For us now, we have to win every game and that has been the goal for us in the last few weeks. We had a slip-up against Southampton but it was good today to refocus. It was a tough game so it was good to get the three points.”
