Rashford voted Player of the Month again

Wednesday 01 January 2020 12:00

Manchester United talisman Marcus Rashford has retained his Player of the Month award, by winning the December prize with 40 per cent of votes that were cast by Reds supporters.

The popular Academy graduate received the trophy in November and maintained his sensational form up front, as he scored six goals from eight appearances across the final month of 2019.

Rashford’s highlights from December include an indispensable brace in the 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. Marcus was then among the heroes from our victory in the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium, where he won and scored the penalty that teed up an emphatic triumph over the champions.

The 22-year-old Wythenshawe lad was one of three Reds who were nominated for our December Player of the Month award, alongside young Mason Greenwood and Brazilian midfielder Fred.

Incredibly, almost 150,000 votes were cast by users of our Official App this week and Rashford secured his victory with just a three-per-cent margin, with Fred finishing an extremely close second.

IT WAS NECK AND NECK

A runners-up position for United’s samba star, Fred, highlights just how much he has impressed fans in recent weeks, after a series of tenacious and hard-working performances in the middle of the park.

Greenwood, meanwhile, deserves plenty of recognition himself, following a December in which he scored four first-team goals and took his burgeoning tally for the season to eight.

Thanks to everybody who voted in our Player of the Month poll via the Official App and congratulations to Marcus on securing a second trophy of the season.

Using his official Twitter account on Tuesday, the proud Mancunian looked back on his past 10 years at United and vowed that the best is still to come…
