Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stressed no decision has yet been taken over whether Marcus Rashford requires an operation.

The Reds striker played for England at Euro 2020 but there were widespread reports after the tournament that he is set to undergo surgery on a troublesome shoulder problem.

With the Academy product enjoying a break, along with the other United representatives who reached the latter stages of the tournament, there has been no official confirmation that he will definitely go under the knife and be sidelined for some period of time.

When asked by reporters at Pride Park whether he could confirm any plans for Rashford, after the 2-1 friendly win over Derby County, Ole said he was not yet in a position to do so.

"No, we’re looking at the best options," said the manager. "Of course, he went away just to reflect on it a little bit. We have to take the best course of action for him and the club.

“We’re still addressing that with the experts.”

United's first pre-season friendly went to plan with the whole squad, bar keeper Nathan Bishop, getting minutes on the pitch at Derby.

Tahith Chong and Facundo Pellistri scored the goals, with Colin Kazim-Richards replying for the Rams.

The Reds' next outing is on Saturday, against another Championship club in QPR, with the action again live on MUTV.
