Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Paul Pogba celebrate the win over West Ham

Which record did the Reds equal against West Ham?

Paul Pogba's two accurate penalties against West Ham mean Manchester United have now scored a club record-equalling 12 goals from the spot this season.

The Reds have previously only reached that figure in one campaign, 2002/03, when Ruud van Nistelrooy netted 10 of the team's dozen converted kicks.

That dead-ball tally for the Dutchman is also a Reds' joint record, the highest for an individual penalty-taker in one term - shared with Steve Bruce for his exploits in 1990/91.

Van Nistelrooy nets against Portsmouth, with one of the 10 penalties he scored in 2002/03.
Pogba is only two behind that prolific pair though, and United still have a minimum of six more games to play in all competitions in 2018/19.

Other marksmen who have scored more than six pens in one season are Gordon Strachan (nine in 1984/85), Gerry Daly (eight in 1974/75), Charlie Mitten (seven in 1948/49), van Nistelrooy again (seven in 2001/02) and Wayne Rooney, who netted seven of United's 11 successful spot-kicks in 2011/12.
PENALTY POINTERS

2018/19 is the first season in which we have had five different penalty scorers. While Pogba has banged in eight of our 12 goals from the spot, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford have shared the other four between them.

The only United player to grab a hat-trick of penalties in one game is Charlie Mitten, who achieved the feat when the Reds thrashed Aston Villa 7-0 at Old Trafford on 8 March 1950. The winger also netted from open play against the West Midlands club while John Downie (2) and Jack Rowley were our other scorers on the day.

The last man before Pogba to put away two United spot-kicks in the same match was Wayne Rooney, whose double came in our 3-3 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 5 February 2012. He was joined on the scoresheet by Chicharito who, as a West Ham player this weekend, was on the receiving end of Pogba's pair.
