Keane impressed by United's attack

The Reds fell behind at the London Stadium after a Said Benrahma shot deflected into the net via Raphael Varane, before Cristiano Ronaldo hauled as level.

“Every time you watch Man United, every time they go forward they look like they can score goals,” said Keane.

“They’ve got so many goals in them.”

He added: “We’ve seen it in the last few games, the guy [Ronaldo] can score goals for fun. It’s great to have someone in your team that gives you that guarantee.”

Speaking on MUTV, fellow former Red Ben Thornley shared a similar view, saying: “I’ve said it before, he is going to score lots and lots of those goals that are just tap-ins.

“But what was brilliant about it was Lukasz Fabianski made a decent save, but he was the first one to react and he was in straight away.

“We were hoping that, in the second half, we would have run away with it really because we were much the better team and had Ronaldo scored at the start of the second half, that would have been different.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo might have been given at least one penalty after he appeared to have been fouled in the box, but Martin Atkinson was unmoved. Lou Macari, who was also on MUTV, thinks he should have been awarded a spot-kick.

He said: “I think because he was involved in another moment, not long before that moment, I think maybe the referee had made up his mind that ‘no you’re not getting a penalty kick’.

“Certainly when you see the replay it looks a penalty, the second one that is.”

Elsewhere, Ben Thornley thought the Reds were unlucky to go behind through Benrahma’s first-half goal, adding: “There was nothing he [De Gea] could have done, Varane in his attempt to try and get as close to him as he possibly could to block it, it’s just come off his sort of midriff and diverted it in the totally the wrong side to David De Gea.

“Not what they deserved, but they are always a threat with the players that they’ve got.”
