Sheffield Utd game off as clubs await FA Cup draw

Wednesday 04 March 2020 13:09

Manchester United's fixture plans for the weekend of 21/22 March will become clearer after tonight's Emirates FA Cup sixth-round draw, which precedes our fifth-round tie at Derby County on Thursday.

After Sheffield United knocked Reading out of the competition, 2-1 after extra time, the Premier League meeting with the Blades that was scheduled for Sunday 22 March has now definitely been postponed.

With the FA Cup quarter-final ties due to be played around that weekend, United will also be in action if we manage to progress past Derby at Pride Park.

The draw for the last eight will be held at Hillsborough after the game between Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester City tonight (Wednesday).

Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Sheffield United are already through.

Leicester City and Birmingham City, plus Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City, are also playing, hoping to take another step towards lifting the trophy on 23 May.

Obviously, both Derby and United will be in the hat - as ball number six.

United have a Europa League second-leg tie with LASK at Old Trafford on the Thursday before the FA Cup weekend. The following week is an international break when the Euro 2020 play-offs will be played.

We will have full details on the FA Cup draw in the Official App and on ManUtd.com.
