Shola Shoretire has been shortlisted for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for Februrary.

The 17-year-old prospect has featured all season for Neil Wood's Under-23s side and scored a hat-trick in last month's incredible 6-4 win over Blackburn Rovers at Leigh Sports Village.

He followed it up with a penalty clincher in the 3-0 triumph over 10-man Arsenal at the same venue.

Shola Shoretire scored a hat-trick in a thriller against Blackburn.

Since then, he has been elevated to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's senior squad so he missed the Premier League 2 games against Everton and Southampton.

The forward made his Premier League debut against Newcastle United before becoming our youngest-ever player in European competition when coming off the bench against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford.

There is stiff competition for the monthly award, including two players from leaders Manchester City (Liam Delap and James McAtee) and Everton's Nathan Broadhead, who scored a hat-trick against Wood's boys recently.

Nathan Broadhead (Everton)
Liam Delap (Manchester City)
