Ole impressed by Sancho's willingness to learn

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken out on the impressive attitude shown in training by summer recruit Jadon Sancho, ahead of his side’s trip to the capital to face West Ham United on Sunday.

The Reds boss reflected on Sancho’s charisma and willingness to learn despite his relatively young age of 21.

The England international joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in July and has played in all five games this season, but Solskjaer has admitted it will take time for the Reds winger to become fully equipped with the league and his new surroundings.

“He’s learning all the time,” Ole told reporters. “As I said in training as well, he’s learning our methods, he’s learning the Premier League and of course he knows the Champions League already from being at Dortmund.

“He’s a young boy, he’s only 21 and he’ll improve,” added the United boss.

In Tuesday’s game with Young Boys, Sancho was sacrificed after Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s dismissal just before half-time in what unfortunately resulted in a 2-1 defeat to the Swiss champions in Bern.

But with Premier League action returning once again for the Reds this weekend, the squad have a chance to kick on following an impressive start domestically, with United currently top of the pile as things stand after just four games played.

United’s no.25 will be keen to impress once again, with Ole believing that the signing of the former Dortmund winger will prove pivotal to his side’s hopes of challenging on all fronts for years to come.

“We signed him as we see a top forward for 10, 12, 15 years and I’ve not changed my mind on that,” said the Norwegian.

“He’s so clean on the ball and is enthusiastic to learn and that is such a big thing when you come to Man United.

“You’re always going to get a chance and you play with some of the best players in the world, you’re getting some fantastic coaching with the coaches I’ve got too.”
