MAGNIFICENT MASON

Mason Greenwood’s dynamite in front of goal, and the youngster showed us exactly why midway through the first half. The Academy product became the youngest United player (19 years and 115 days) to score against Liverpool since Wayne Rooney in 2005 (19 years and 83 days). The strike was his seventh goal involvement of the season, and his first since his half-volleyed strike against West Ham in December.

HARD TO BELIEVE IT’S NOT SCHOLES…

It’s actually Rashford! Our no.10 produced a Paul Scholes-esque cross-field pass to put Greenwood through on goal for our excellent equaliser. The assist was the his 10th of the campaign, and he is now only two assists away from his best-ever tally for a single campaign.

RETURNING THE FAVOUR

BRUNO COPYING OLE

Like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 1999, Bruno Fernandes came off the bench to send United through against Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth round. With Donny van de Beek starting in the no.10 role, Bruno got a rare rest from the off. This was only the third time this season he has started as a sub for the Reds. However, when the Portuguese magnifico eventually came on, it did not take long for the midfielder to make another crucial impact. A free-kick from just outside the box was smashed into the far corner to send us 3-2 ahead with just over ten minutes to go and it turned out to be the winner - Bruno's 26th goal contribution in 29 appearances this term.

STARTS FOR DONNY AND DEAN

Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson were rewarded for their hard work in training after being named in the starting line-up. Indeed both were part of the XI who began the last round victory over Watford at Old Trafford. Our no.34 once again showcased his football intelligence and movement under the floodlights and he was unlucky not to provide an assist when he burst into the box in the first half. He went down under a challenge but referee Mike Pawson waved play on. Henderson, meanwhile, playing his 10th United game, pulled off solid saves from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah as the visitors threatened after their equaliser.
