Ralf completes last match in charge

There is respect and appreciation for the hard work that Ralf has put in during this transitional period, as United undertook the search for our new permanent manager. 

The German ended his spell in temporary charge away to Crystal Palace, the same team that provided the opposition for his first match back in December when he kicked off with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford. It was confirmed last month that Rangnick will continue to work with United in a consultancy role, in parallel with his responsibilities as the new Austria national team coach.

Ralf enjoyed a positive start to his time in charge, securing 10 points out 12 in the first four Premier League matches, but admitted in his final pre-match interview last week that subsequent defeats in the FA Cup and Champions League knocked confidence in the league. But overall, he believes the future is bright for United under Erik ten Hag. “If we draw the right conclusions of the experience we made this season, not the last six months but in general the last 12 months, I think it’s positive,” he told MUTV.

“I am positive that this can happen, together with Erik. We have a modern coach who has proven himself in the last years at Ajax that he is one of the best coaches in Europe. We have all the facilities here. We have the stadium, we have a capacity of almost 80,000, every home game sold out, we have a very good training ground, we have good staff members.

“So it’s all there, so if we now make sure we get the quality mentality players that a club like Manchester United needs in the next windows, I am positive that we can bring back Manchester United to the top flight of this league.”
