Premier League 2 | Motspur Park | Scorers: Davies 41, Atkinson 80 | Gomes 28, Chong 61

Manchester United's Under-23s kicked off the Premier League 2 campaign with a 2-2 draw against Fulham at Motspur Park, with Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong on the scoresheet.

Both youngsters have moved up permanently from the Under-18s and were on the senior tour of the United States. The hosts twice forced equalisers, through defenders Aron Davies and Robert Atkinson, to secure a point.

Angel Gomes headed the opening goal.

United scored first on 28 minutes as George Tanner delivered a good cross and Gomes bulleted a header beyond Magnus Norman in the home goal. The lead lasted until four minutes before the interval, when George O'Riley's free-kick was powered past Kieran O'Hara by Davies.

Ricky Sbragia's men regained the lead when a neat move involving DJ Buffonge and Gomes ended with Chong providing a superb finish. O'Hara twice denied Cauley Woodrow, who looked dangerous in attack, with excellent saves, only for O'Riley to claim another assist when Atkinson nodded in an 80th minute equaliser.

Tahith Chong continues to enhance his reputation.

United XI: O’Hara; Tanner, Poole, R. Williams, O’Connor; Garner, Hamilton, Buffonge (Whelan 88); Gomes (Dearnley 88), Wilson (Bohui 46), Chong. Subs not used: Fojticek, Warren.

The Reds' first home game is at Leigh Village next Friday, against Aston Villa, live on MUTV.
