What was Amad's celebration about?

Manchester United youngster Amad marked his first senior goal for the club with a unique celebration.

Fans have been wondering why the Ivorian acted in that way after meeting Bruno Fernandes's brilliant through ball with an improvised back-header over AC Milan keeper Gianluigi Donarumma at Old Trafford.

Although Simon Kjaer levelled late on to leave things on a knife-edge for the second leg of the Europa League round-of-16 tie in Italy this Thursday, Amad's actions have been a major talking point ever since.

There is a touching story behind the celebration as Amad was paying his own personal tribute to former Atalanta team-mate Willy Braciano Ta Bi.

The former midfielder tragically passed away last month, at the terribly young age of 21, after suffering liver cancer.

Amad played alongside his fellow Ivorian in the Academy side at Atalanta, following Willy's move from ASEC Mimosa in his homeland.

United's no.19 posted on his Instagram story to say: 'Rest in peace, Willy Braciano Ta Bi. Forever in our hearts.'

He also said on Twitter: 'Rest in peace big brother, Q’ALLAH AJAWADJAL. May you be granted paradise, inch’allah.'

Milan's Franck Kessie, who is also from Ivory Coast, paid a tribute to Willy with a special T-shirt when scoring against Red Star Belgrade in the previous round. The midfielder, who had a goal ruled out by VAR at Old Trafford, dedicated his penalty to his friend.
