Ronaldo shortlisted for Premier League Goal of the Season

Wednesday 25 May 2022 14:00

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of 10 Premier League players nominated for the 2021/22 Budweiser Goal of the Season prize.

The Portuguese netted 18 times in his first English league season since rejoining Manchester United in August 2021.

That meant he finished as the division's third-most prolific goalscorer, behind Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur).

But which Ronny effort is up for the Goal of the Season award?

Cristiano opened the scoring in some style during Saturday's win over Tottenham...

There have been plenty of crackers, but Ronaldo's best has been identified as the 25-yard screamer against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in March.

Receiving the ball from Fred's flick, midway into the Tottenham half, our no.7 took two touches to steady himself before curving a blistering shot past Hugo Lloris to give us a 1-0 lead.

That game eventually brought Cristiano's second hat-trick as a Red, which helped us claim an important 3-2 win over Antonio Conte's visitors.

And another goal the Portuguese scored against Spurs could easily have made the shortlist: a precision volley Ronaldo fired home during a 3-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in October.
But the powers that be have selected that fantastic opener in a game which summed up Ronaldo's goalscoring prowess.

You can cast an eye at the other goals nominated via the list below, but don't forget to vote for the United star in the poll, which is now open.

The winning entry is set to be announced on Sunday 29 May at 12:00 BST.

Congratulations on your nomination, Cristiano.
